What is Grotto Slice?
Grotto Slice turns Figma email designs into ready-to-send Klaviyo drag-and-drop templates. Design your email in Figma, run the Grotto Slice plugin, and your template appears in Klaviyo ready to send - with AI-generated alt text, compressed images, link addresses, and preview text all included.
What used to take 25 minutes of manual slicing, uploading, and HTML assembly now takes 3 minutes. It's built for email agencies, marketers, and designers who design in Figma and need to get emails into Klaviyo fast.
Don't use Figma? You can also upload JPEG or PNG exports from any design tool through the Grotto Slice web app.
How It Works
Select your email frame in Figma
Click on the frame containing your email design, then open the Grotto Slice plugin. Choose your brand from the dropdown.
Click "Send to Klaviyo"
The plugin exports your frame, analyzes the design, slices it into optimized sections, compresses the images, generates AI alt text, and creates a complete Klaviyo drag-and-drop template - all automatically.
Use your template in Klaviyo
Your template is ready in Klaviyo. Open it from a Campaign or Flow, drag on your Universal Footer Block, and send.
Setting Up Your Account
There are two one-time setup steps before you start sending. After that, every email is a single click.
Create an account
Head to slice.grottodigital.com and sign up with your email address. Every new account gets a free trial.
Connect your Klaviyo account
Create a Klaviyo Private API key and add it to a Brand in Grotto Slice. Each brand connects to one Klaviyo account - if you're an agency with multiple clients, create a brand for each.
Build your universal footer
Use the Footer Builder to create a single HTML footer block that you can drag into every template. This is a one-time setup - once saved in Klaviyo, you reuse it forever.
Install the Figma plugin
Install the plugin from the Grotto Slice Figma Community page and log in with your Grotto Slice account credentials.
Send your first email
Select your email frame in Figma, choose your brand, and click "Send to Klaviyo." Your first template will be ready in under a minute.

What design tools does Grotto Slice support?
The Figma plugin is the fastest way - select your frame and click send. If your team uses Photoshop, Sketch, Canva, or any other tool, you can export as JPEG or PNG and upload through the Grotto Slice web app.
Do I need to know HTML or code?
Not at all. Grotto Slice handles all the HTML generation, image slicing, and Klaviyo template creation automatically. You just design in Figma and click send.
How does the AI slicing work?
Our smart splice algorithm analyzes your email design and automatically finds the best places to split it into sections. It detects background color changes, content boundaries, and quiet zones to create clean, optimized email sections.
What Klaviyo plan do I need?
Grotto Slice works with any Klaviyo plan that supports custom templates and the Klaviyo API. You'll need a Private API key that starts with pk_ and has the following scopes: Accounts (Read), Images (Read/Write), and Templates (Read/Write).
